From Guangzhou to Shenzhen and Hongkong by train
From Guangzhou to Shenzhen or Hong Kong, you can go from the East Railway Station or the South Railway Station. It is more convenient from the East – it is in the city center. It takes only 50 minutes to get from South Station to Hong Kong, and 30 minutes to Shenzhen, but it takes a little longer to get to South Station.
Usually, if you need to get from Guangzhou to Hong Kong, in fact, there are only 3 sensible options:
1. From Guangzhou East Railway Station to Shenzhen Railway Station. The ticket is 79.5 yuan in the regular class. 1.5 hours. Get off the train and walk to the border. After passing the Chinese and Hong Kong borders, take the Hong Kong Subway. Payment by Octopus card. 39 HKD this trip will be worth it!
2. Direct train from Guangzhou East Station to Hong Kong (Hunghom Station is almost in the center). The ticket is about 200 yuan. 1.5 hours on the way.
3. Direct train from Guangzhou South Station to Hong Kong (Kowloon West Station is almost in the center). The ticket is about 215 yuan. 1 hour on the way.
Now for the tips.
* It is better to buy a ticket in advance, there are many ways to buy online. The easiest way is through a website or an application trip.com
* If you buy a ticket the day before, but there are no tickets, then there is a special service on trip.com . When the ticket is released, you will be automatically discharged! Very convenient, used a couple of times.
* Arrive at the station 45 minutes before the train departs. There are queues at the entrance to the station, to scan suitcases and to check your passport at the entrance to the station.
In addition to trains, Hong Kong can be reached by ferry or bus. Both options are inconvenient. The bus takes 3-4 hours, and the ferry pier is a 1.5-hour drive from the center of Guangzhou. The new berth at the Canton fair is more convenient, but there are few flights to Hong Kong.
